CIEEDAC Database

CIEEDAC Database on Energy, Production and Intensity Indicators for Canadian Industry

These data are obtained by CIEEDAC, the Canadian Industrial Energy End-use Data and Analysis Centre, from a number of sources. Statistics Canada is one of the main sources. They are intended for personal or private use only. For more information on their use and subsequent distribution, contact CIEEDAC (bradford_griffin@sfu.ca).

Your activity on this website may be logged for quality assurance purposes.

This database provides data for Canada for all years from 1990 to 2015 for all major industry groups as defined by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The data should be used under the following caveats:

  1. Data on Energy for 1991 - 1994 are not from the same source as energy data for 1990, 1995-2015 and therefore may not be reliable if used in developing trend analyses (for further information, contact CIEEDAC).
  2. Most Activity (Production) Data are drawn from the same universe of respondents as the Energy Data, Statistics Canada's Annual Survey of Manufacturers. However, some data on production are obtained from other government agencies or industry associations. Additionally, Statistics Canada updated real GDP data to 2007 and terminated some series for certain sectors (which were estimated in this database). Also, GO data are NOT available.
  3. Energy data for 2013 are updated to the final set released by Statistics Canada on October 31, 2016.
  4. Emissions data include calculated estimates for energy data kept confidential. Process data are from Environment and Climate Change Canada's National Inventory Report, 1990-2014 released April 2016.
